Chris Boucher scored a career-high and franchise high 47 points at The Paramount Fine Foods Center tonight, but it was not enough to overcome the Oklahoma City Blue (12-3) who put a stop to the 905’s seven-game win streak and undefeated record at home (4-1).

The Raptors 905 only saw a five-point lead at the beginning of the first half, before trailing by as much as 15. Oklahoma City Blue used their size and athleticism on both ends of the floor; scoring 76 points in the paint, rolling effectively with speed, hitting their long-range shots and staying aggressive on defense.

“We had two really good teams going at it,” Head Coach Jama Malalela said post-game.  “They were able to score a bit better. It was a good test and a good battle for our guys.”

The Blues knocked down 9 three-pointers, which is just three more than the total amount attempted by the entire 905 team.

Despite Boucher and Loyd picking up their 3rd and 4th fouls respectively at the beginning of the second half, the 905 went on an 11-4 run at the end of the third quarter and continued to work on those efforts. Duane Notice, who had 7 points for the night, took an important charge to help maintain the 10-point deficit after being down by 19.

“The rotations were a little funny today because of foul trouble early,” Coach Jama recalled. Boucher played all 12 minutes in the final quarter, and even out of his regular rotation, Coach Jama was pleasantly surprised with how Boucher’s game has grown. “He made some really key decisions down the stretch and his singing has improved. His conditioning is there. [The Blue’s] are a big aggressive team, and he hung with them for an entire quarter.”

The 905 were visibly upset with the officiating for the night, picking up two delay-of-game warnings, which resulted in a technical foul late in the third quarter.

Loyd completed a three-point-play then knocked down two three-pointers to bring his team back within 3 with just under two minutes remaining. However, it wasn’t enough as the Raptors could not stop The Blues in transition.

Loyd had a double-double for the night with 21 points, 10 assists, and 4 rebounds. Kyle Collinsworth added 11 points and 8 rebounds.

The Raptors 905 head to Grand Rapids, Michigan to face the Grand Rapid Drive on Friday, December 14th before flying out to Las Vegas for the G-League Showcase.

The 905 are back at home on December 27th at 7:30 PM, hosting the Lakehead Magic.
