Toronto, Ontario — With 9147 in attendance the Raptors 905 (25-16) celebrated Chinese New Year at the Air Canada Centre Sunday evening taking on the Wisconsin Herd (17-21), jumping to a hot start the 905 finished the first quarter up 37-21. Alfonzo McKinnie came out the gates a man on a mission scoring 14 of his team-high 27 points in the quarter, connecting on three 3-pointers. Kennedy Meeks and Davion Berry both added 8 points in the quarter.

In the 2nd quarter the 905 would turn up the heat increasing their lead to 24 points, But the Herd would cut the led to 17 forcing coach Stackhouse to call a timeout. The time out would not stop the bleeding as the Herd would go on a 18-0 run spearheaded by Brandon Jennings, cutting the led down to only six points. Responding back-the 905 would end the Herd’s run with a 6-0 run of their own pushing the lead back to 12, ending the half up 70-57, surviving a 14 point scoring outburst from Brandon Jennings.

The 905 came out of the break with a purpose, pushing the lead back up to 21 points, outscoring the Herd 15-9 before coach Brady would call a time out at the 6:33 mark. But the 905 kept the pressure on maintaining their lead 105-88 through three quarters.

The Herd would continue to fight and chip away at the 905 lead in the 4th quarter with Ricky Ledo drilling 3 of his 25 points with 5:44 remaining, cutting the lead to 10 forcing coach Stackhouse to call another timeout. With 2 minutes to go Brandon Jennings-who scored a game-high 29 points would nail back to back threes to cut the lead to 7, the lead whittled down down to as low as 5 with 1:37 minutes to go but the 905 would go on a 5-0 run and seal it at the charity stripe, closing out the Chinese New Year game with the 129-119 victory.
