According to sources close to Vince Carter, a couple of the reasons he chose Sacramento over Toronto and other interested playoff teams – in addition to the $8 million contract the Kings offered him – was the promise of playing time and the chance to be a mentor, both in the locker room and on the floor. He didn’t go there with the intention of winning or being in the spotlight, as he would be if he returned to the Raptors, and as of last month he was still content with his situation. – via TSN
Anything seems possible now, even the return of Mr. Vince Carter in what would be the narrative to crush all narratives if – and we stress if – it was to actually happen. Carter has been discussed internally by the Raptors, according to multiple sources, but only as one option among several.
Adding Carter, or any other veteran likely to be waived or bought out in the coming weeks, is the only remaining option the Raptors have if they want to upgrade their roster after making no significant moves leading up to Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.
Sense is that the Kings would work with Carter on a buyout if a tempting potential landing spot emerges between now and March 1 but their hope is that he elects to stay https://t.co/TISYtWxtNK
