The Nike Crown League has returned to Toronto for its second year. Nike Crown League is a pro-am league designed to showcase Toronto’s basketball royalty.

Every Friday from July 1 until August 13, six of Toronto’s best teams will leave it all on the court as they look to take on the reigning champions, 1LoveTO. Three back-to-back games will take place each Friday night (6:30 PM, 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM). Basketball fans from across the city are invited to attend.

Here are the results of the action from week 2:

In the 1st matchup it was Team M.A.D.E (2-0) vs Team ACE (1-1), where M.A.D.E came out with the narrow victory 70-68. M.A.D.E were led by Jermaine “the Rock” Anderson with 17pts and Junior Cadougan whi added 16pts. Tyrone Watson led Team ACE in scoring with 20pts and Shaq Keith chipped in with 15pts.

The 2nd matchup featured team Northern Kings (0-2) vs the defending champions team 1Loveto (1-1). Coming into this game both teams were looking for a win, so something had to give. Ex Toronto Raptor James Johnson, who recently signed with the Miami Heat made an appearance and suited up for team Northern Kings, but that wasn’t enough to ensure the Kings the victory. The defending champions escaped with the win 81-76 after blowing a 20 point lead. It was a balanced attack for 1Loveto with 5 players scoring in double digits. Deejan Kravic with 16pts, Tramar Shuterland with 15pts, Olu Ashaulo added 13, Chadrick lufile had 13 and Nemanja Mitrovic chipped in with 13pts. The Kings were led by Negus Webster-Chan with 20pts going 6-12 from three, James Johnson had 17pts and Juevol Myles who injured his shoulder in the 1st half added 14pts.


CIA Bounce (1-1) vs 9Now (1-1) capped off the night, with 9now getting on the winning column with the 70-59 win. Ammanuel Diressa led all scorers with 18pts for Team 9Now, Christian Kabongo helped out with 16pts. CIA Bounce were led by Raptors 905’s Sim Bhullar who had a double double with 11pts and 12rebs, Christian Gould chipped in with 10pts.


Nike Crown League continues on Friday, tip off is at 6:30pm at Ryerson University Kerr Hall Gym. The action gets better every week so your not going to want to miss out on week 3. See you there!
