New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams has informed the franchise that he’ll become an unrestricted free agent this summer, league sources told The Vertical. Williams, 25, passed on his $4.6 million player option for the 2016-17 season, choosing to test the market, sources said.
The Knicks still have an interest in signing Williams to a new deal, sources said. Williams’ athleticism and versatility at a small forward position in demand on the market are expected to give him significant options this summer.
Several league executives say Yogi Ferrell has really impressed on the workout trail. His draft range is considered early to mid 2nd round.
